Field Installation Technician

Virginia TIP is looking for a Field Installation technician for various service calls, installations, and trouble tickets throughout the area. The more skills below you have the more availability for more work. You must have your own basic telco tools, reliable transportation capable and clean record.
Essential Job Functions
- Participate in and carry out installation, repair, modification, optimization, or acceptance test procedures of telecommunications equipment, infrastructures and electrical equipment
- Assist in the isolation of hardware, software, and air interface malfunctions utilizing various test equipment on multiple products and technologies
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of installation and integration experience demonstrating increasingly more responsible job functions across a broad array of telecommunication or alarm technologies; formal electronics training preferred
- Self-starter, with the ability to work with without supervision, while effectively interfacing with all levels of management, staff, and customers
- Strict attention to detail and organization
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that represents a history of safe & competent driving
- Travel as part of a team occassionally within the region. Project areas from Baltimore to Charlotte. Home every weekend.
- Clean record and ability to get a Base Access Card and or security clearance

- Ability to use office equipment (i.e. computer, copier, scanner, fax)
- Microsoft Office product knowledge (i.e. Outlook, Word, Access)
- Ability to effectively utilize the internet
Physical Requirements
- Energetic, great physical condition, and mentally prepared
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work outside and withstand varied inclement weather conditions
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time; able to work from a ladder for several hours a day

- Telecommunications/Cable Pulling and terminations
- Fiber Optics
- Tip/Ring Circuits a plus
- CCTV a plus
- Audio/Video Experience a plus
- Fire Alarm experience a plus
- Security Alarm experience a plus
Compensation $18 to $25 Per Hour DOE
